| Program Note: Salsa Falsa first emerged as part of my guitar quintet Endless. That work required a celebratory salsa for which Falsa was the first unsuccessful attempt. My local Sydney specialist in all music Latin American, Daniel Rojas, assured me that it didn’t qualify as salsa in any meaningful way and was, at best, some sort of perverse tango. At the urging of Kathryn Bennett, who commissioned Endless, I distilled that abortive exercise into this short concert encore as a falsa sort of salsa. It is dedicated to Kathryn. |
